As the Lancashire water bug outbreak continues, more and more small businesses are becoming affected. And the situation is showing no signs of clearing soon.
One of our customers, Lynda Day of Lyn’s Lunch Box, has been speaking to the various news organisations about her discussions with United Utilities. She has been trying to obtain upfront payments for loss of earnings and additional expenses the business is incurring.
We looked online to find and republish advice to claim compensation for struggling businesses, however there was nothing we could easily find.
We spoke with Lyn to find out what she has discovered about the water bug, she gave the following advice: Send a letter to FAO Gary Dixon, United Utilities, Haweswater House, Lingley Mere Business Park, Lingley Green Avenue, Great Sankey, Warrington, WA5 3LP. Give them your account number and details, along with a description of how it’s affecting your business.
From there you should receive a phone call or email with details on where to send documentation. Lyn spoke on 5Live about upfront payments, and the United Utilities spokesman said he was looking into this for them.
Let us know if you have any updates or amendments to this advice.
